The triazoles are essential to the treatment of invasive aspergillosis. This presentation will discuss discovery of a novel second mechanism of action of triazoles against A. fumigatus, demonstrating that triazoles impede ergosterol biosynthesis by inducing negative regulation of Hmg1, which performs a key step in the early ergosterol biosynthesis pathway.
