Eliane Vanhoffelen is a biomedical scientist who is currently pursuing her doctoral studies as a Ph.D. student in the Department of Imaging and Pathology at KU Leuven under the guidance of Prof. Greetje Vande Velde. Her research is centered around two fungal mycoses: aspergillosis and cryptococcosis. More specifically, she focuses on preclinical therapeutic screening for aspergillosis and on the pathogenesis behind lung-to-brain dissemination of cryptococcosis. For this research, she uses preclinical imaging techniques, with an emphasis on bioluminescence imaging. Her work involves the use of Galleria mellonella larvae and mice as model organisms.
