Dr. Grant is an Infectious Disease specialist with expertise in unusual infections. Early in the HIV/AIDS epidemic, she trained at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, under Dr. Donald Armstrong (former Infectious Disease Society of America President), which included Hospital Infection Control training. Thereafter, working in the Bronx NY HIV “epicenter”, she became Assistant Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (1988 – 2000) and later Clinical Assistant Professor at NY Medical College. Her experience treating hundreds environmentally-proven hazardous microbial/mycotoxin exposures, correlating specific mold/mycotoxin exposures, predisposing risks, diagnostic testing reliability, and treatment efficacy, has been presented in multiple peer-reviewed medical communities.
Helicopter view of inhaled mycotoxins and human illness from indoor exposure:
The health impact of indoor mold and mycotoxin exposures in contaminated buildings is an emerging area. Inhalation appears most dangerous, allowing rapid spread of mycotoxins into the brain and systemic circulation. Consequent immunosuppression is also a risk for opportunistic fungal infection. Specific mycotoxins and associated illness will be presented,
