Research director and group leader with more than 20-years of working experience in the fields of Mycology and Glycobiology. My research focus is on the fungal cell wall – its biosynthesis and remodelling, the role of fungal cell wall during host-pathogenic fungal interaction, host innate immune system – specifically on humoral immune system (immunoglobulins, the complement system, collectins and acute-phase proteins).

Abstract:

The goal of my group is to develop immunotherapeutic strategies against fungal pathogens by: (i) exploiting fungal cell wall components, and (ii) identifying humoral immune components that are depleted by fungal infections, studying their roles against fungal pathogens, and exploring their replenishment as a therapeutic strategy against fungal infections.
