Dr Giuliana Lo Cascio

Clinical Microbiologist and Chief of the Microbiology Laboratory, Department of Clinical Pathology of the AUSL Piacenza Hospital, Italy. She is a lecturer in the Postgraduate School of Microbiology and Virology at the University of Pavia, Italy.
Dr Lo Cascio main field of scientific research is mycology, with a particular focus on new diagnostic methods for rapid diagnosis of invasive fungal infections and on fungal susceptibility tests. During COVID-19 pandemic she was involved in many study on the immunological response to SARS CoV2. She is involved in Italian national programmes for the surveillance of antibiotic resistance and the epidemiology of invasive infections. Member of the Mycological Study Committee of the Italian Association of Clinical Microbiologist (AMCLI), Past Vice- chairman of the Italian Federation of Human and Animal Fungal Disease (FIMUA), Dr Lo Cascio is a member of many national and international scientific societies, such as the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease, the Alliance for the Prudent Use of antibiotic, and the Italian Association of Clinical Microbiology and Laboratory Technicians. She has authored or co-authored numerous papers published in international peer-reviewed journals.
